Safety First: Why We Close For Heat

“Safety first” is our motto here at Moto Mountain Park.

“Safety first” is always the top priority we have at Moto Mountain Park. We want everyone who visits us to have a great time riding the trails, staying in Sky Cabins, camping and everything else we have to offer. We also want to make sure you get the most out of your Moto Mountain Park experience, so we aim to be open 365 days a year. Of course there are always exceptions and emergencies, so there are a few days every year that we are closed.safety first

One of the reasons we close for a day or two in the summer is heat. When the temperatures are expected to climb way up there and the humidity will seem suffocating, we will close up for the day. A recent example is last Wednesday. We knew it would be extremely hot, so to keep riders safe we closed for the day. Monitoring heat is important to keeping safety first on our priority list. If we kept our trails and other activities open on extremely hot days, riders would run the risk of potential dehydration, heat stroke, or other heat-related issues. It may seem like an unnecessary precaution, but to us putting our riders safety first and preventing as much danger as we can is most important. (Not to mention it just gets plain miserable here in Georgia when it gets extremely hot and muggy).

When it comes to safety first, we follow the old adage of “better safe than sorry”. Can you tell we are big on safety yet? If we are closing the park we will notify you through our website home page, Facebook, and Twitter. You are also welcome to call us at 706-337-5590 if you have any questions. We look forward to continuing this safe and fun summer with everyone!
